Mark Selby fended off a late Shaun Murphy resurgence in a high-quality World Snooker Championship final to seal his fourth title 18-15 at the Crucible on Monday.
Having won seven out of the nine frames played on Sunday night to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 10-7 lead in the best-of-35 encounter, Selby lost the first frame on Monday. From there, 하나, Murphy was unable to get within two frames of his opponent on day two.
Selby, 세계 No 2, ended Monday’s afternoon session 14-11 앞으로, and a total clearance of 120 in frame 30 took him to within one of the title. Murphy responded with two successive centuries to make the score 17-15 with a maximum of three still to play, and had a lead in frame 33 to cut the lead to one before he missed a difficult red with the rest along a side cushion. Back at the table, Selby – the 2014, 2016 과 2017 champion – overcame nervy moments to clear up and close out the final.
